Retention schedules are a big first step.  First you need the retentions
schedules and user buy-in on the retention schedules.  Then you need to
ensure access to the records aligned with the retention schedules.  In
an electronic system you can't browse the shelves to find what you're
looking for so you have to add in other means of finding content
quickly.  

Right now in the working world most people are using more electronic
content than paper content.  There are a few hold-outs but even the
hold-outs often keep the electronic version and print to paper to read.
There will always be paper - but not quite as much of it.  Even the
courts are turning to electronic media.  It's much easier to heft a
flash drive then several thousand pages of case material.  (not as much
exercise though)

The biggest thing happening right now is the change from paper to
electronic media.  There have been previous changes that were just as
difficult, (smile)
