Bob, in 1996, the National Archives of Canada published a short paper
titled "Managing Shared Directories and Files" which discusses
conventions of file and directory naming.
Some of the conventions are a little old (created for Windows 95), but
can be adjusted.
I have a copy of the paper, and will send it to you if you want it.
Best regards.
Fred

Subject: [RM] Question on Name Criteria for Electronic Records
Someone off the list asked - "can you recommend a publication or have
any
info for recommendations for naming criteria for electronic records?"
I personally can't think of one published strictly for electronic
records.
Any thoughts?
