I know of one Federal regulation pertaining to retention of records by
contractors which includes a section on imaged records and how long the
hard copy is to be maintained. You will need to check with your Legal dept
to determine if the regulation is applicable to your company. Here is an
excerpt:
48 CFR Part 4‚ Section 703‚ Paragraph (c)(3)
(3) The contractor or subcontractor retains the original records for a
minimum of one year after imaging to permit periodic validation of the
imaging systems.
