People go back to school even in their 90s, and an official transcript -
not a student copy - may be required.  Granted, not a lot of people.
But these are among the records that, when needed, are REALLY needed.

They can also be used for less obvious but still essential purposes,
such as being among the acceptable official documents for filing a
delayed birth registration (in Maine, anyway; can't speak to the
requirements of other states).  Who would need to gather documentation
for a delayed birth registration in old age?  A relative of mine
actually had to do that for a HUD-supported housing matter.
