Are you a working for a gas utility?  If so, check out CFR 18 1 225.2 &
225.3.  

Also, the NARUC has some good guidelines.  Some really wild retention
periods but does cover natural gas companies.  

Also, each state the pipelines crosses may and probably do have legal
requirements that you must follow.
