Hi Larry,
I couldn’t agree with you more on the dangers of Geo-Tagging capacities of social networking. This could be a nightmare for companies and employees that post pictures/texts from places their not supposed to be. Additionally the safety concerns are tremendous if for example, you set the Follow setting on Twitter someone can track your location every time you post.
While I think it’s a fun tool at times, if you are chatting with friends and want them to find you, otherwise I would recommend turning the setting off if you are traveling alone or using the postings for business (unless otherwise required). We already have a lot of data to capture and adding another layer of location metadata could be unnecessary. I would hate to see an article where this tool was used negatively to hurt someone or against a business, especially if they forgot to turn off their location settings.
