Transparency Compliance requires enforced protocols
When providing responses for compliance or electronic data discovery, it's
no longer enough to simply offer the requested data — responding
organizations must demonstrate how compliance is managed and guaranteed
throughout the lifecycle of the information. Without such processes, it is
nearly impossible for an organization to defend an item's legitimacy or its
chain of custody.
Should your organization need to produce data, it must be prepared to show
that it has managed its information in an appropriate manner, both currently
and historically. Companies must demonstrate that they know where
information resides within the organization. And keep in mind that metadata
surrounding data can be more valuable than the information itself
