Carol Choksy says: "I'll stick with the EDRM framework!"
That misses the point by a rather wide margin. The EDRM framework - and any Reference Model in any disciple -- is a different animal from any implementation program, which is what I offered. The EDRM framework should be incorporated into any such methodology as part of a specification of what gets implemented. It's one piece that does several well-defined jobs - but it doesn't implement itself, or tell you how to implement it, or how to implement it to optimally fit your organization's needs. There's a lot it wasn't designed to do and that needs to get done to have a solid litigation readiness program, let alone even implement "the EDRM framework" in the loosest sense -- which can't be done anyway without making decisions on lots of questions, either in an unsystematic or systematic -- i.e. programmatic -- fashion. So for example the "EDRM" says nothing about:

1. How to prioritize its stages - e.g. based on your prioritization of risk, cost, and other factors
2. How to develop the target future state that incorporates them
3. How to develop the roadmap to get there
4. How to structure the program to get there
5. How to organize the roles and responsibilities relevant to it
6. How to align your E-D initiative with RM
7. How to align E-D with ECM (and with RM, and other content-related initiatives)
8. How to align E-D with email and email management
9. How to incorporate E-D into broader information governance
10. How to incorporate and align E-D into your broader IT initiatives and your broader corporate initiatives
11. How to align E-D into your information architecture, including taxonomy, metadata, retention schedule
12. How to plan and implement your two content-related processes: the overarching information lifecycle and the discovery lifecycle
13. How to align your E-D technology requirements into your broader ECM, RM, email management, and the rest of your IT strategy, environment, roadmap, and portfolio
14. How to align your E-D technology requirements into your enterprise search approach (current or future)
15. How to design and implement your policies, procedures and guidelines to facilitate your E-D initiative
16. How to design and implement change management, including communications and training, to facilitate your E-D initiative
