Presentation Description:
What does it take to change a records retention schedule? What do you do with the archived materials that are marked with the old schedule? Mary Beth Herkert, Oregon State Archivist, with talk about the recent and dramatic changes to OAR 166-200, which serves as the retention schedule for the almost 300 cites in Oregon. She will speak about the process needed to change the schedule, and why the changes were made. Whether you are directly affected by the change or not, there is much to be learned about what it takes to change a retention schedule for a large organization.

Speaker Biography:
Mary Beth Herkert has worked at the Oregon State Archives since 1985, working as a processing archivist, records manager and manager of the Records Management Unit. She was appointed State Archivist in December 2005. She also worked at the University of Oregon - Special Collections and the New York State Archives. Mary Beth grew up in Buffalo, New York and received a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology and History at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana and a Master's degree in History from the State University of New York at Albany (SUNYA).
