Let's take this pondering a bit further.

Glen wrote: "So what's the deal? Are there no younger people on the list?  I would have expect to at least see a laptop with an i-5 quad processor...."

Thus it is with all generations and all technology.  What we grow up with is unremarkable, it's always been there so we take it for granted. But technology that appears in our formative years makes an impression on us that we remember forever.

I remember my family's first air conditioner and first television, but my kids take both for granted. On the other  hand, I've always had running water, but my  grandmother thought it wondrous when a pump was installed in her farmhouse kitchen so she no longer had to haul water from the well.
