It is difficult to determine the answer without knowing what rights & obligations the parent/surviving entity retained as part of the dissolution. That information may be in documents in these files or in your legal department's files. If found, that would be the key to the whole thing. Without that information, if I was the surviving entity I would strongly lean toward applying my RRS to those records. 

Along with some other long-term retention records that have already been mentioned, I would add employee benefits records - retirement, pensions, etc.
