this entire process was laid out by the two plaintiff attorneys from
the Diversified Fire case Richard Stabinski and Marc Zingarini at the
Boston Conference in 2003 (last minute addition - one of those held
back slots that PatC mentioned in a different thread)

There presentation was titled "Calculating the Intangible costs of
Lost Records" this was even done as an ARMA webinar last summer (IIRC)

in their presentation they laid out how each of them were able to
present their case and how they calculated the worth of the lost
documents. In one case a single box was worth over $11,000. A lot of
the determination is based upon the business process. Some of this was
discussed in earlier on the list just do a search for them.

The whole live session at the Conference and the webinar update were
both very useful. Would love to see a good technical guide produced
lining out the process each attorney used to established the value.
