The Competency Requirements describes a Coordinator as "performs a
multidisciplinary service including coordinaton of teams. Contributes
basic management skills inclduingn project management, policy oversith,
and organizaitonal reponsibilities. Works independently with limited or
no supervisory responsibilities. Encourages and facilitiates
communication."

Some of the specific functions include: Determines RIM procedures for
specific projects, audits training program, conducts technical training,
understand basic budget preparation, hire and fire, manage projects, and
serve as teamwork facilitator.

< I have been told that a Records Coordinator is the same as a Records
Manager. The names seem to be used synonymously in NC. Can someone
provide me with a job description to clarify the difference, if any?>

This illustrates my earlier comment that there is no standardization for
RIM position classifications. Both the 1998 ARMA Salary & Compensation
Survey and the 2000 ARMA RIM Industry Competency Requirements list
different titles for some of the same responsibilities.

The Competency Requirements lists the following RIM Titles (with
functional descriptions):
Director
Manager
Specialist
Supvervisor
Coordinator
Analyst/Technologist
Technician
Senior Assistant
Junior Assistant

The Salary Survey (which is based on actual positions responding to the
survey) lists the following RIM positions (with functional
descriptions):
Chief Information Officer/Vice President Information Resources
Management
Records and Information Management Director
Administratvie Services Director
Archivist (Management Level)
Records and Information Manager
Corporate Librarian
Microfilm/Imaging Manager
Records Supervisor
Records Center Supervisor
Senior Records Analyst
