Hello,
I have a question for those of you who manage the destruction of records for your company.
I am currently in charge of managing the on-site document destruction process and the business relationship with the vendor. This vendor was contracted for this service way before I began in this position. When I arrived and began to manage this process, I asked the vendor about a contract and was told they did not work with contracts.
Recently, they have had a change of heart and sent me a client service agreement. There are many things that have raised my attention in the agreement, but one of the most shocking to me was that they have written in a $15.00 removal fee per console for early termination of contract. I have only worked with one other document destruction vendor in my career, and there was no such thing as a removal fee.
Is this normal? Perhaps this is a new trend in the document destruction field? I would be interested in hearing from others who use this type of service and perhaps have a removal fee built into their contracts?
Thanks,
Bonnie Chaney
