Over the break, many people have provided the lists of records generated by
an IT section/branch/department/empire etc.

The National Archives of Australia's Administrative Functions Disposal
Authority has a section for the function of "Technology and
Telecommunications" available at
http://www.naa.gov.au/recordkeeping/disposal/authorities/GDA/AFDA/PDF/Techno
logy.pdf.

That document will provide a fairly comprehensive overview of the types of
records an Information Technology section would reasonably be expected to
create and be responsible for. Not all of the classes of records would be
created by each individual agency.

Obviously it is aimed at the Australian Commonwealth Government
jurisdiction, but would be a useful list in most organisations.

Disclosure: I was involved in the development of this publication (and
particularly this section).
