Ladies and Gentlemen:
The Puget Sound Chapter of ARMA and the Tacoma/Pierce County Bar Association is pleased to present a seminar on "Recent
Developments in Electronic Records Management" at the Washington State History Museum in Tacoma, Washington on Friday,
October 6th, 2006. Topics to include:
"How Recent Case Law Has Shaped Public Disclosure" presented by Greg Overstreet, Special Assistant Attorney General for
Government Accountability, Washington State Attorney Generals Office"
If it is your job to gather, manage and review paper and electronic documents as a records manager or attorney, this
seminar is for you. Together you will learn and review recent case law from an expert in the field.
Mr. Overstreet coordinates the Public Records Act and other open-government policy legislation and training. He serves
as an "ombudsman" to the public to resolve op0en-government issues with state agencies and, when appropriate, local
governments. He drafted the Attorney General's 2006 Model Rules on Public Records and spearheaded the effort to pass
the 2005 amendments to the PRA. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Washington State Bar Associations forthcoming 22
chapter Public Records Act Deskbook.
And,
"E-Discovery: Take a Byte Out of the New E-Discovery Rules Bit by Bit" presented by Mark Dietzler, Attorney, Vandeberg
Johnson and Gandara, LLP.
The Federal Rules of Civil Procedure have been expanded to include discovery of electronic evidence. These rules become
effective on December 1, 2006. Are you ready? Is your firm ready? How do you handle your first e-discovery
preservation letter? How do you preserve system and application metadata? Eight states are in the processing of
adopting similar rules. It is only a matter of time before Washington follows suit.
Electronic discovery issues will impact your practice, how you plan and prepare discovery requests, and how to advise
your clients to handle and preserve electronic evidence. This is a must attend seminar for all attorneys. He has
promised to present the information in non-technical terms.
Join us on October 6 at the Washington State History Museum in downtown Tacoma, Washington to hear attorney Greg
Overstreet and Mark Dietzler speak on these important topics.
For further information and/or registration form contact Susan M. Lord, [log in to unmask] or 253-383-3791
