Larry, I agree with much of what you have said, but I don't blame the limits
on the use of ISO15489 on its not be a compulsory or required standard. Had
it been promoted properly by ARMA without the commercial marketing approach
it would have had a far greater impact. ARMA HQ had its own dog and pony show
going worldwide on providing speakers, but never provided a "package:
presentation for individual chapter use to give the concept motivation. England
guidelines on the standards have come out on its implementation and evaluation.
Valuable documents that have been hidden from the ARMA reading arsenal. You are
right about the acceptance of RIM in Australia but after a golden
opportunity to work with them thirty years was canned, we now see the merits. As their
membership has grown they have adjusted their membership structure to
accommodate the various capabilities levels. It will be interesting to see what
impact the competency study has on this whole arena of RIM positioning and
qualifications.
