Barbara,

  You're good!

But, my question becomes, "Sure, but who's going to do that follow up when it comes time for the facility destruction?" Hopefully, the RIM department would, but what if facility destruction could be far in the future?

I've been thinking about this a lot lately--is information moving at so fast a pace that we should redesign our records retention schedules...should records series with permanent retentions be given a shorter life?

We may keep better control over the retention of our information within our purview of responsibility (with the cooperation of internal audit, tax, legal) if retention periods are smaller...theoretically, it's easier to protect our company...it promotes more records awareness (those series, then, are not out-of-sight-out-of-mind)...there's more opportunities for training and promotion of RIM...

Mimi, in my area "Life of Facility" means until the
building/facility/property is sold, decommissioned, demolished or lease
expires and the company has no further ongoing interest.
