For most voting equipment there are specific log reports that must be
completed at the end of voting.  Those logs show everything from
accepting a vote to power interruptions (if those occur), to machine
restarts, etc.  Some systems can produce an image of each vote (without
compromising the voter's identity) for so long as the media on which the
results are stored exist.  And...yes, there are specific retention
requirements regarding the retention of electronic data from a voting
system.....
