Hi everybody,
As I've mentioned before, our records department here at Cheniere is brand new. We're setting precedents for the company as we proceed through our Documentum implementation. One of the ways we demonstrate our value to the organization (and advertise our RIM/IT team's accomplishments) is in our high level report to the Executive Committee--we give statistics.
For example, two stats we've been keeping since the beginning of the project: 1. a daily capture of the number of emails filed into Documentum since we scoped the project; 2. the size of the server in which emails were stored prior to implementation to today.
That's not a comprehensive list of our stats. And the above list addresses only one RIM function--it doesn't include our hard copy management (well, only 5% of our records are hard copy), imaging...you all know where I'm going.
I'm sure this is pretty common for all of us--I mean, after all, it's not as if we RIMgrs are a bunch of Neo-Luddites.
In my opinion, I would say, nevermind the questions--it's the stats that are convincing. Budget considerations and business process improvements are mostly soft dollars, anyway.
I don't cook that much, so I'm on my way to enjoy Indian (my fave!) after I pick up a copy of The Rules of Work by Richard Templar at B&N.
;-)
