We Russians are not that proud (we do have "computers" after all), but we

My people did something worse. "Records" were translated into Russian by a
government standardization body - incorrectly, as it turned out. Now they
are "zapisi" which in common Russian corresponds to "records' entries"...
But QMS specialists (it's their ISO 9000/14000 standards that were
translated) treat them as higher, better form of records!
BTW some BIG software companies translate "records management" in their
Russian-language ads as a "management of archives" :)
