I would like to know if there is a technical term for doing the following to a list.
I have a list of field names that contains duplications, as follows:
AA002
AA003
AA003
AA005
AA007
AA007
AA008
I have software that will "collapse" this list to an unduplicated set as follows:
AA002
AA003
AA005
AA007
AA008
I wish to know what the technical term is for the "collapsing" process. Or, just what do records management people call it while standing around the water cooler?
Thanks much,
Ron
