Ron:
The action of closing subsections of a hierarchy is called "collapsing"
(as in collapsing the folder/file tree in MS Explore).  If the
duplicates are hidden by using your software, then it is "hiding" not
"collapsing."  "Collapsing" implies a click or two to "expand."  Your
description sounds like the software must be used in some way to
"unhide" the duplicates.
