In his original note Hugh mentioned incidents over the last decade.
There are two others slightly further back of which I'm aware, although I
do not have the dates.
Sometime around the mid-1990s I understand the Hays IMS (now a part of Iron
Mountain) warehouse in Birmingham (England, UK) was destroyed - I
discovered it because Bradford & Bingley Building Society were storing
their customer's property deeds there while refurbisshinf there main store
and many were destroyed - got into the personal finance press). And soon
after the BCCI banking closure by the Bank of England there was a fire at
the Hays IMS warehouse called Brunswick in the east end of London, England
- this I understand was partial destruction (a former employer lost a major
series of records). Perhaps others can provide dates.
But thanks Hugh for starting this thread

Hugh, I found the following references to other fires. The scope of these
particular disasters must have involved records:
Norwest Bank fire: In 1982, a Thanksgiving Day fire completely gutted
Norwest's headquarters--a 16-story building occupying a full block in
downtown Minneapolis.
One Meridian Plaza fire: The fire claimed the lives of three Philadelphia
firefighters and gutted eight floors of a 38-story fire-resistive building
causing an estimated $100 million in direct property loss and an equal or
greater loss through business interruption.
First Interstate Bank fire: On Wednesday, May 4 and continuing in to May 5,
1988, the Los Angeles City Fire Department responded to and extinguished
the most challenging and difficult high-rise fire in the city's history.
The fire destroyed four floors and damaged a fifth floor of the modern 62
story First Interstate Bank building in downtown L.A., claimed one life,
injured approximately 35 occupants and 14 fire personnel, and resulted in a
property loss of over $50 million.
