Donna Grove asked: "What is the difference between a Retention Schedule and a Back up Schedule
for electronic records/email?"

A retention schedule lists the type of records created and how long they need to be kept to meet the legal, fiscal and administrative need for the record. (See Robek glossary). Retention schedules apply to all records regardless of medium.

A back-up schedule for electronic records/emails is how often back-up copies are made to protect the data. (Robek defines back-ups as; a copy that is made and stored in a secure location remotely from the computer site.)

There are a lot of good books out there that you could use for an outside source.
