Oh...didn't see you were in special collections/archives. One other
thing that I didn't explain in my previous response to your question.
That is, our university archives is under the university Library...and
as I stated in the previous post our records management is under our
Business Services Division. However, our records disposition process
includes a review by our archivist of all records disposition reports
prior to disposal. He has to sign each one indicating that he has
reviewed it. In that way he can pull and place any records deemed to be
of historical value in our university archives.

You can see anything about our program here:

Subject: [RM] Question for Univ RMs

Good morning from a lurker with a question.

I am trying to figure out the variety of places Universities put their
Records Management programs within the organization. Where do you
report?

Our RM originally reported to the Univ. Librarian. Following her
departure
the institution looked at moving the position under the Financial V.P.,
but
left it in the library and placed it under my department. Then, as luck
would have it, the funding was pulled for the position and the duties
ended
up with me.

We are now re-examining the future of the program and I am trying to
discover where others place their RM programs in the institution.

Thanks for any replies.

Happy Holidays,
Karen
