Here at Kennesaw State University outside of Atlanta, Georgia, the
director of the Department of Archives and Records Management reports to
the V.P. for Library and Museum Services, who reports to the CIO/VP
Business Operations, who reports to the President. My department
originally reported directly to the CIO/VP Business Operations until we
had a reorganization this year.
The time spent under the CIO was invaluable for gaining support for our
programs. I can still talk to him about records management issues
whereas my direct supervisor is more interested in archives issues.

Good morning from a lurker with a question.

I am trying to figure out the variety of places Universities put their
Records Management programs within the organization.  Where do you
report?

Our RM originally reported to the Univ. Librarian.  Following her
departure
the institution looked at moving the position under the Financial V.P.,
but
left it in the library and placed it under my department.  Then, as
luck
would have it, the funding was pulled for the position and the duties
ended
up with me.

We are now re-examining the future of the program and I am trying to
discover where others place their RM programs in the institution.
