· It is best to not print. Let's sell our clients on that. 98% of all information in the western and developed world is created electronically. Let's manage it from that paradigm. That is where our profession's focus should be; managing from the planning stage of the life-cycle.

Lemme see ...; create/record info electronic...; print to paper...; distribute to many and they all file/misfile and then store...; and then scan to digital creating much larger files than the original...; it does not make sense; lots of costs and extremely resource intensive at each step.

I hate paper.

Don, were you with Hallmark? I visited there when I was with the Univ. of Missouri back around '84 or '85; saw some of the original and historic cards.

Best regards, Steve

I just retired from a greeting card company in Kansas City last Friday. The cost of digitizing hard copy records is "insane". Don't fall for it. If my company would have digitized it's hard copy records, it would have cost, are you ready?? $8,750,000. It's not going to happen!
The best thing you can do is to digitize from first day forward...that is to begin a document management program and let the hard copy records expire.

Thanks,
