Fellow listserv members / airline records managers:

I understand that when a plane is transferred to another owner, the
maintenance records for that aircraft are to be transferred along to the new
owner. However, is there a

retention period that copies of the maintenance records have to be held by
the previous owner? I don't believe so, but I am coming across a suggested
Active + 3 year retention for aircraft maintenance records. Could this
possibly mean 3 year retention after the plane is permanently put out of
service?

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
