At least with Outlook and Exchange, when you're building folders in your
personal inbox those messages are in fact being stored in a .pst file....a
better approach that eliminates this problem altogether is to look at one of
the email archive solutions or an ECRM solution that can ingest emails,
either individually through the email client or automatically through the
email server. There are dozens of them out there, and every major ECRM suite
has at least some email archiving capability though of course the devil is
in the details.
