you don't have to answer it. My point is that the IT side of the house has
taken over terms that had  certain meanings and then applied a new meaning.
As a result confusion can and does come about.  An email archive is not an
archive in the traditional sense (and you know what I mean Chris) it is a
data store nothing more. The traditional and more common understanding of
archive is a place where items are maintained that for a long-term or for
historical purposes.

The same occurs when IT speaks of 'archiving'.
