Teresa, several thoughts come to mind -- CDs aren't the best option for
long term storage of critical information. Also, how does your friend
anticipate keeping them secure during her travel?

One fast, easy solution might be to image the records on stable medium,
and invest in a lockable transport case (which she must keep with her at
all times). Remember, these are medical records and are covered by
HIPPA regulations. She will then have immediate access to the
information should she need it. Then, put the 6-7 banker boxes in
storage with a full-service, reputable records center until they can be
destroyed. The records center can handle the secure destruction at that
time, but she will need to remember to 'destroy' the copy of the records
which she has at that time, as well.
