I would think that IF there were such an ROI tool that it would be
predicated on establishing a legally compliant RIM program....more than
on hiring a RIM manager.   I look at RIM as an essential element of
corporate life, not as something that fits neatly into an ROI model.  Is
there, for example an ROI for having a CFO?  Is there an ROI model for
hiring a Chief Compliance Officer? A Chief Information Officer?  I
suspect that there isn't.  Hopefully we're not all that far from the day
when hiring a Records Manager is just viewed as something that good
business practices dictate, rather than something that must be
cost-justified at the front-end.

 

The question is interesting and has been posed here before..... I just
happen to be among those who would see the "ROI" issue as a non-issue,
and would see the need for compliance, and managing risk to dictate the
institution of a full RIM program.
