*Records Management Coordinator*



Bucknell University seeks to fill a two-year position as Records Management
Coordinator. Reporting to and working closely with the Curator, Special
Collections/University Archives, this position provides leadership for
establishing a comprehensive records management program for Bucknell
University. The Coordinator will work collaboratively with campus offices,
academic departments, and organizations to plan, implement, and manage a
records management program that addresses all record formats and insures
compliance with the University's legal and fiscal responsibilities. The
established program will assist the University with access to critical
information, vital records, continual preservation of institutional history,
and will integrate the goals of the campus document-imaging project.



*Specific Responsibilities*

§         Responsible for overall development and establishment of a records
management program for the University that supports and improves business
practices.

§         Works collaboratively with campus offices, academic departments,
and organizations to build relationships, plan and conduct records
inventories, appraisals, and create records schedules that meet the
University's legal and fiscal obligations.

§         Works collaboratively with technology staff to achieve program
goals.

§         Works collaboratively with University Archives to appraise
University records and create policies that insure preservation of
institutional history.

§         Develops records management policies, procedures, and guidelines
for the program.

§         Develops a strategy for the identification and preservation of
vital records important to the continuation of University business during
adverse conditions.

§         Appraises records' condition and creates appropriate preservation
policies.

§         Works with other Library and Information Technology staff members
to help develop strategies for preserving electronic records and
information.

§         .Provides training for proper records management and compliance
with the University's established program.

§         Assesses program needs and makes recommendations for the
continuation of records management at the University.



*Qualifications*

§         Bachelor's degree is required.

§         Experience establishing and successfully implementing a records
management program preferably in a college or university setting is
required.

§         Certified Records Manager (CRM), Masters in Library and
Information Science from an ALA accredited school, or course work in
information management, archival studies, and/or records management is
preferred.

§         Knowledge and understanding of legal and fiscal issues governing
university records is preferred.

§         Experience with electronic records management and digital
preservation issues are preferred.

§         Experience implementing document imaging is preferred.

§         Strong communication and writing skills are essential.

§         Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of University
administration, faculty, staff, and students is essential.

organizations to form Library and Information Technology Department.  We
focus on strengthening natural areas of collaboration and creating synergies
among staff members.  We strive to create an information-rich environment
for the campus, and enjoy a strong service reputation. Library and
Information Technology is committed to supporting the professional
development of its 85 staff members.



Bucknell is a highly selective, predominately undergraduate residential
university with strong liberal arts and professional programs. There are
approximately 3400 undergraduates and 150 master's degree students. The
campus is in a beautiful rural setting adjacent to the Susquehanna River.
Harrisburg and State College (home of Penn State University) are about an
hour away; New York, Washington D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh
are approximately a three to four hour drive. The university supports an
active program of cultural events and opportunities for recreation.
