I admit that it has been a while since I sat through both tests I
would say that I found the CRM to be more difficult.  The main reason
is that the questions for the PMP are based primarily from one
document - the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).  As long
as you study the PMBOK (no easy task) you should be in decent shape.
Questions from the CRM are based on a number of sources - no one place
to go for the answers.

The biggest challenge I found taking the PMP was that I had to
essentially put "real world" experiences in the back of my mind and
concentrate on how projects should be managed based on the PMBOK.  As
I was reminded many times "It's PMI's way or the highway."

That being said, I would not want to have to take any of the tests
over again, and will do everything I can to keep my maintenance
credits and dues payments up to date.
