Laurie, congratulations on a fine polemic. I wouldn't worry about ARMA
refusing to publish it in the IMJ.

I DO have one question, though, for you and for other members of the
listserv. You state "the Central RIM Registry never existed outside of
the British Empire". I have a dim recollection that the equivalent
existed in most European countries; am I mistaken?

Warmest regards.

Fred

Subject: [RM] Article entitled - Is Disposition = Retention & Disposal
the only thing that Records & Information Management - RIM is about? -
July 2008

Dear Colleagues,

I have posted an article on two of my websites that I was commissioned
by
the Editor of the ARMA Information Management Journal -IMJ to write for
the
Journal.

Unfortunately the article entitled - *Is Disposition = Retention &
Disposal
the only thing that Records & Information Management - RIM is about? -
July
2008* - has been deemed by the Editorial Committee to be TOO personal &
the
comments TOO sensitive for the eyes of the ARMA IMJ readers

I have thus posted the article UNCUT for those in the RIM profession &
industry with the fortitude & willpower to make the effort to read
Laurie's
perceived attack on a range of subjects & no doubt suppliers. Which I
claim
it IS NOT.

The article is available online @
http://www.records-management.com.au/publications.shtml?Is_Good_R-M_only
_about_Disposition
and
also at
http://www.microfilm.net.au/articles.shtml?Is_Good_R-M_only_about_Dispos
ition

Happy reading,

Laurie Varendorff

*NOTE:* I look forward to discussing my slant on RIM with you at the
Listserv Party in Las Vegas or at the a.k.a. by Synercon stand # 938 on
the
Exhibition Floor.
