In response to Bill Manago's posting on the Destruction of Vital
Records...

"Here is a question that I hope spurs interesting debate. Should
records
that are deemed vital be exempt from destruction, regardless of what the
disposition instructions or retention schedules indicate?"

As a CRM, I certainly hope that anyone with the CRM designation would
understand: (1) the definition of a vital record, (2) that there are
significant differences among different records series that are
considered to be vital with regard to retention requirements, and (3)
how best to dispose of vital records. It strikes me that there should
be very little debate on this topic among those who have attained the
certification.

Douglas P. Allen, CRM, CDIA+
