These seminars are canned approaches for introductory level training --often
for secretarial types who have been "dropped in" to the position. They do
contract training on anything from how to write a business letter to public
speaking. Generally the quality depends on the person hired for any given
locality and the depth of knowledge he/she has in the field. Curriculum
itself for these seminars tends to be very shallow and weak--more like an
overview at that. I wouldn't rely on any such seminar to prepare anyone to
deal with our area of practice, but for someone with no clue, a seminar of
this type might be a good "look, see" experience, if only to acquaint
themselves with others with no clue.

This is not meant to pejorative to any Fred Pryor seminar, just a general
observation that such seminars are generally not intended to prepare someone
to practice.

Subject: [RM] Fred Pryor Seminars

I recently received a flyer for a one day Fred Pryor Seminar to be held
on "Records Retention and Destruction". I would be interested in hearing
from anyone who has attended a Fred Pryor Seminar about the quality of
the presentation and usefulness of the information.

I have searched the list archives and have not seen this brought up
before, also did Google/Dogpile searches and have not found much in the
way of reviews, lots of sites offering the various Pryor courses
however.

Please let me know the "good, bad, and ugly" if you can - either on the
list or privately.
