I am hoping someone on the list will help me with the correct interpretation of "discontinuance of use" under a US Dept of Transportation Retention Requirement.  49CFR379.13 specifies retention of several categories of accounting records with reference to this term.  For example --

Ledgers: (a) General and Subsidiary Ledgers with Index.  Retention:  Until discontinuance of use plus 3 years.
Any insight into this will be most appreciated.
