I would like to know what type of software supports this type of email
management.  I believe our IT people are looking at an email archiving
solution called COMMVAULT which does not appear to support this.  Do any
email archiving solutions support this?

Most Records Management software packages will support this approach - IF
configured properly.

That is the big if for a lot of related questions. The File plan must be
properly defined, File Parts created, and the software configured to allow
users ease of use.

Disclaimer: I am an Open Text (formerly Hummingbird) partner, and the Open
Text software can be configured to support this approach. However, it is not
the only package available that can be used in this way.
