All,
Happy Thanksgiving Week!
Are any of you familiar w/this association? They offer professional privacy
certifications similar to the CRM. There is an article in the Chronicle of
Higher Education, "A Wealth of Data, and Nobody in Charge,"
(http://chronicle.com/free/v55/i13/13a00103.htm) that argues for Chief
Privacy Officers (CPO) in Higher Ed that references this organization. It
also explains "why privacy protection cannot be simply added to the
responsibilities of information technology departments" and that "what's
important, is that they [CPOs] get to report to somebody that matters."
However, w/no offense intended to any attorneys on the list, the article
speaks primarily w/CPO's that are also attorneys and seems to imply they are
the best people for the job. It doesn't even mention records/info management
or the fact that records/info mgmt professionals would also make excellent
CPO's or that they already deal directly w/these issues on a day to day
basis. (Hmmm, sounds like some self-promotion is in order here.)
Anyway, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Phil Koslowski
