Tom: See my post, but this goes against what I had heard that portable
drives are the most risky storage media because of high failure
rates/existence of moving parts, etc.
While they're cheap, and relatively stable... I think I'd spend a bit more
on something like a Western Digital Passport drive.
Take a look at their website and you'll likely find reconditioned 8o-120gb
drives under $60. A new 320gb is only $130 AFAIK.
These are USB powered, so no need for a separate power transformer, and once
ejected, nothing inside moves so they're quite stable. They're about 3x5x.5
and weigh only ounces.
I have 2 of them, one used as a deep backup for my photos, videos, and
music. And my daughter uses one for all of her active library of music and
videos, and it's spinnin' just about 24/7/365 =)
