I think it depends on what industry you work for.  In government, RIM is
pretty recession proof at the higher levels (records manager, records
specialist, records analyst) but the lower levels (file clerk, scanning
technician, records warehouse worker) are prone to be amongst the first
for reduction in force (RIF) (we don't "lay off" in government, we
reduce).

In the private sector, however, I don't see RIM as recession proof in
most industries.  Unfortunately, many "C" level folks consider RIM
somewhat expendable, unless they are heavily regulated by
records-centric government agencies.  Those in RIM who have multiple
skills (project management, privacy or compliance management, IT
background) will find it easier to keep their jobs.
