electronic information

Sorry to be forwarding an advert but I thought you would all find it of
interest :

Just Published!
BS 10008 Evidential weight and legal admissibility of electronic
information

How do you minimize the risks involved with the long-term storage of
electronic information?

Does your organization have:

— A policy for the safeguarding of all types of electronic information?

— An information management policy that covers the storage and transfer of
electronic information?

— An established procedure for the use of digital signatures?

— An established procedure for the electronic scanning of paper documents?
If the answer to any of these is no, then a copy of BS 10008 would be a wise
investment.

BS 10008 contains the requirements for the implementation and operation of
electronic information management systems. It also covers the storage and
transfer of information, and addresses issues relating to the authenticity
and
integrity of the information. These issues are important where the
information
might be used as evidence.

Who should use it?
BS 10008 applies to all corporate bodies, large and small. It is especially
topical for business managers, records managers, compliance officers and
legal
advisors in financial institutions, insurance companies and local government
departments.

Three books support the standard and offer guidance:

Evidential Weight and Legal Admissibility of Information Stored
Electronically.
Code of Practice for the Implementation of BS 10008

Evidential Weight and Legal Admissibility of Information Communicated
Electronically. Code of Practice for the Implementation of BS 10008

Evidential Weight and Legal Admissibility of Linking Electronic Identity to
Documents. Code of Practice for the Implementation of BS 10008

Training courses on BS 10008 are available in 2009
BSI Learning offers training courses on Legal Admissibility and Evidential
Weight of Information Stored Electronically.

Regards

Janice
