All,

First, let me thank everyone who responded to my "Recession Proof? posting. Your thoughts seem to echo what I have been reading. Much appreciation.

With the hope that this is not too far off topic....

Right now, managing our university's shredding services is my responsibility, primarily because we're using the building I am located as our "pilot" project for implementing RIM. However, other areas of campus use our shredding vendor, and, as the word has unofficially spread about our new RIM initiative, they have been contacting me with procedural questions.

The other day, our Recycling Coordinator contacted me to discuss whether she might be the right person to handle this, especially when we begin installing locked bins across campus. In that case, my role would be limited to processing records disposal requests for those records that require permission before doing so. Once permission is obtained, she would step in. And, although, I would be more than happy to hand this off to her, I would still be present during the actual shredding of "official" records.

My question(s): For those of you who still use paper :), do any of you actually manage your organization's shredding services? If so, to what extent? If not, who does and, if possible, would you briefly describe the procedures?

Thanks very much!
Phil
