actually this isn't a no-no  under the list policies.

your best bet is to close each posting you make on the list with a statement
that clearly states that vendors should not contact you.  If you don't want
a vendor calling you then do not include your telephone numbers in your
signature block.

on the whole vendors on this list are very responsible IMHO in respecting
the requests of others. contacting someone off list is not verboten and as
Jon Quandt pointed out vendors want to build a relationship.
