Archivists tend to use 100% cotton inspection gloves when handling documents. This is primarily to keep skin oils off of documents and photographs, so they tend to be designed to protect the documents from hands, not the other way around. I've never been happy with those gloves because they tend to not fit my hands well and provide very little grip. These are generally the one size fits all, very light weight disposable gloves, however. This website (not specifically recommending, found it with a Google search): http://www.saraglove.com/ has a variety of different gloves, including several weights of cotton gloves. University Products has gloves specifically for archivists: http://www.archivalsuppliers.com/products.asp?dept=142 You may want to try out different types to see what works best for you. Latex gloves are another option, but can be problematic if you have latex allergies. If you get properly sized latex gloves, they will provide you with good
grip and decent tactile feel, but you may want to try different types and sizes.
