I have always recommended and used hand lotion. It works a lot like shoe
polish, the scuff goes on the polish, not the leather. When we had to
reshelve more than 15,000 linear feet of files I required my staff and
temps, about 40 people, to use hand lotion throughout the day. We got a few
scrapes, but didn't get any paper cuts. My staff who did filing also found
the hand lotion was a big help.
