The United Nations Archives and Records Management Section (ARMS) is
seeking an enthusiastic and committed consultant with practical experience
in the arrangement, description and scanning of archival material.
Consultancy will be for an initial period of 4 months, with the
possibility of extension. The successful applicant will need to be able to
work 20 hours per week, commencing as soon as possible.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience as an archivist,
have appropriate educational qualifications, have excellent written and
verbal communication skills, and be able to work both autonomously and in
a team.
The activities would include but not limited to:
· Based on priority, review archival material using ARMS
Recordkeeping System reports and listings;
· Liaise with ARMS archivist to determine records of archival
value;
· Liaise with records managers for transfer of archives;
· Create accurate descriptions of archives in the Archives and
Recordkeeping System;
· Scan significant archival documents
Consultant will work closely with and under the direct supervision of the
Archivist and in close cooperation with her team.
ARMS will provide a workstation, computer and access to Recordkeeping
System. Consultant will provide a progress report on a weekly basis.
