Hey Erin, 
You may be remembering a conversation we had at ARMA.  I am planning to conduct a benchmark survey later this year of University RM programs focusing entirely on RM and not the Libraries/Archives.  I oversee the RM functions reporting up through the Administrative function of the University and we have a University Archivist that reports into the Libraries on the Academic side.

I conducted an in-depth benchmarking survey while at Compaq in the mid-1990's with some Fortune 50 companies that had outstanding programs at the time.  I even had the funding to personally visit all of the companies to conduct the surveys.  Ah, the good old days of working in the corporate world (*sigh*).

If you have the time to put together a survey, I would be happy to review the questions and provide input before distribution.  Unfortunately, I left my benchmark questions back in Houston when I transferred to another job.  I also think you could enlist the help of the email list that Susan McKinney collected at our Higher Ed meeting we had at ARMA.  They might like the opportunity to add a few questions that are important to them.  Or maybe someone on the list already has a benchmark survey that you could use as a starting point.

Just some thoughts.  Let me know how it goes.
